Installation
Installing your brand new Fairway Alloys golf cart wheels is a very easy process that can be done in less than one hour in any home garage. With a few steps, you will go from boring or bling, increasing performance and adding a nice new cushioned ride for your golf cart. They key to knowing what your cart can handle is knowing your clearance. A standard golf cart (no lift kit installed) can only accept up to a certain size wheel and tire before rubbing occurs, damaging your vehicle and potentially leading to early wear and tear on your tires and wheels. A common rule of thumb is to never exceed a total wheel and tire diameter of 21". Our kits are clearly marked for your convenience so that you know if you will need a lift or not. Although we do not sell the lift kits to accommodate larger wheel and tire combos, we recommend discussing your options with a local golf cart dealer or do some shopping online with a reliable source. Remember, not all lift kits are created equal so cheaper does not always mean good quality or safety.
Here is what you will need to get started:
- Socket wrench
- Installation kit
- 19mm OD Socket
- Any automotive vehicle lift (or blocks)
Once you have all of your tools ready to go, start by loosening your lug nuts on all wheels and tires. DO NOT remove the lug nuts, but simply loosen them while the vehicle is on the ground. Trying to pry a lug nut loose while the vehicle is lifted is not only dangerous, but very complicated because there is no counter resistance (tires on ground). Once you loosen your factory lugs, raise your golf cart up via lift (using vehicle frame) or lift manually onto blocks. Make sure you have ample room to work with so that you can easily remove old wheel and tire assembly and replace with new wheels and tires. Once you have a corner/side of the vehicle lifted, remove the lugs nuts on the lifted wheel and tire assembly and remove.
Because our wheels are engineered to be as durable as they are good looking, our lug holes require a special lug nut and/or socket which is included in all of our installation kits. Use the following bold link to purchase individual installation kits, or pick up a wheel and tire kit on our site which has the kit included. Install your new wheel and tire assembly using the new lug nuts provided in your order and torque them by hand using socket wrench, being careful not to cross-thread your vehicle studs. Once the new wheel and tire assembly is installed, lower that corner of the vehicle and repeat the previous steps on the remaining three corners.
Once you have finished installing all of your new wheel and tire assemblies, re-torque all of the lugs once last time to ensure a tight fitment. We strongly recommend that you re-torque your new wheels and tires after the first 10-15 miles of use as the new wheel seats itself on your vehicle.
